Email forwarding automatically sends a copy of every incoming message to another email address — for example, your personal Gmail or work inbox. This is useful if you prefer to manage everything from one place.
Setting Up a Forwarder
Forwarders are managed through cPanel Webmail.
- Log in to webmail at
https://[chapter].assp.org/webmail. - From the webmail home screen, click Forwarders.
- Click Add Forwarder.
- In the Address to Forward field, your role email address should be pre-filled.
- In the Forward to Email Address field, enter the personal or alternate email address where you want messages delivered.
- Click Add Forwarder.
Note: Forwarding sends a copy to your destination address. The original message still arrives in your chapter inbox unless you also set up a filter to skip the inbox.
Forwarding vs. Auto-Reply
- Forwarder — Redirects incoming email to another address automatically.
- Auto-responder — Sends an automatic reply to incoming senders.
These can be used together — for example, forwarding messages to your personal email while also sending an auto-reply letting senders know you received their message.
Removing a Forwarder
- Return to the Forwarders screen in webmail.
- Click Delete next to the forwarder you want to remove.
Important: When your term ends, your chapter administrator will update or remove the forwarder so the incoming email is redirected to your successor. You do not need to take action on this yourself.
