Embedding a YouTube Video

Updated on June 25, 2026

Display a YouTube video directly on a page so visitors can watch without leaving your chapter site.

Steps

  1. Open the page for editing (Pages → All Pages → Edit).
  2. Go to the YouTube video you want to embed and copy its URL.
    • On YouTube, click Share under the video, then copy the link.
    • Both full URLs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXX) and short URLs (https://youtu.be/XXXXXXX) work.
  3. Back in WordPress, click the + (Add Block) button where you want the video to appear.
  4. Search for and select the YouTube block (or the general Embed block).
  5. Paste the YouTube URL into the field and click Embed.
  6. The video preview will appear in the editor. Use the toolbar to adjust alignment if needed.
  7. Click Update to save.

Notes

  • The video plays directly on your page — visitors do not get redirected to YouTube.
  • You cannot embed videos that the uploader has disabled embedding on. In that case, you’ll see an error after pasting the URL.
  • For videos hosted elsewhere (Vimeo, etc.), use the general Embed block and paste that platform’s URL instead.
