News posts are created using the standard WordPress Post editor. To keep your chapter’s news feed organized, all news posts should be assigned the News category.
Steps
1. Go to Posts → Add New
From your WordPress dashboard, hover over Posts in the left sidebar and click Add New Post.
2. Add a Title
Enter a clear, descriptive title for your news item. This will display as the headline on the news feed.
3. Write Your Content
Use the block editor to add your content. You can include paragraphs, images, links, and other blocks as needed.
4. Set the Category to News
In the right sidebar, locate the Categories panel. Check the box next to News. If no category is selected, the post may not appear in the chapter’s news feed correctly.
5. Set a Featured Image (Optional)
In the right sidebar, click Set Featured Image under the Featured image panel. A featured image helps the post stand out on the news feed.
6. Publish
When ready, click Publish in the top-right corner. To schedule the post for a future date instead, see Schedule News Item Actions.
Note: Only users with the Editor role or higher can create and publish posts. If you don’t see the Posts menu, contact your chapter’s website administrator.
