Real Magnet (part of Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Enterprise) protects your chapter’s account with browser authentication — an extra security step that confirms it’s really you before letting a new or unfamiliar device into the system. The first time you sign in from a new computer, a new browser, or after clearing your cookies, Real Magnet will ask you to verify your identity with a one-time code sent to the email address on your account.
This guide walks you through what to expect.
When you’ll see the verification prompt
Real Magnet will ask for an activation code any time it doesn’t recognize the device you’re logging in from. Common situations include:
- Your first login as a new chapter officer
- Logging in from a different computer (home vs. work, for example)
- Switching browsers (Chrome to Edge, Safari to Firefox, etc.)
- Clearing your browser’s cookies or browsing history
- Using a private/incognito window
Once a device has been verified, Real Magnet remembers it for future logins so you won’t be prompted again on that browser.
Step 1 — Request your activation code
After entering your username and password, if Real Magnet doesn’t recognize your device you’ll be taken to a verification screen.
- Click Send Activation Code.
- Real Magnet will email a verification code to the address tied to your account.
Important: Keep the login tab open while you check your email. Closing the browser or the tab will reset the process, and you’ll need to start over with a new code.
Step 2 — Retrieve the code from your email
Open the email account associated with your Real Magnet login and look for the message containing your verification code.
- Copy the code from the email.
- Return to the open Real Magnet tab.
Tip: If you don’t see the message within a minute or two, check your Spam or Junk folder. The email is sent from a Higher Logic system address and is occasionally filtered.
Step 3 — Enter the code
Back on the verification screen in Real Magnet:
- Paste or type the code into the Enter Activation Code field.
- Click Verify My Code.
You’ll be signed in, and Real Magnet will remember this device the next time you visit.
Troubleshooting
I didn’t receive the email.
- Check your Spam, Junk, or Promotions folder.
- Confirm the email address on file in Real Magnet is current. If the account is still tied to a previous chapter officer’s address, the code won’t reach you — open a support ticket so we can update it.
- Allow a couple of minutes for delivery before requesting a new code.
The code doesn’t work.
- Codes are time-sensitive. If too much time has passed, click Send Activation Code again to generate a fresh one.
- Make sure you copied the entire code with no extra spaces before or after.
I’m prompted to verify on every login.
- Your browser may be set to clear cookies on exit. Adjust that setting, or use a browser where you stay signed in between sessions.
- Privacy extensions (ad blockers, tracker blockers) can also clear the cookie that remembers your device. Whitelisting the Real Magnet login domain usually resolves it.
