Chapter LinkedIn accounts are managed locally by each chapter — Society (national ASSP) does not administer, own, or have login access to these accounts. If your chapter loses access to its LinkedIn page, recovery has to go through LinkedIn directly.
Option 1: Password Reset
If the account is tied to a chapter email address (e.g. president@yourchapter.assp.org), you may be able to recover it through LinkedIn’s standard password reset:
- Go to LinkedIn’s password reset page.
- Enter the chapter email address associated with the account.
- Follow the instructions sent to that inbox.
Note: This only works if someone in your chapter still has access to that email inbox. If the account was tied to a former officer’s personal email, this route likely won’t work — try Option 2 instead.
Option 2: LinkedIn Identity Verification
If the password reset doesn’t work, or the associated email is no longer accessible, LinkedIn offers an identity verification process to recover an account:
- Visit LinkedIn’s ID verification help page.
- Follow LinkedIn’s steps to verify yourself as the account owner or an authorized admin.
Note: This process is run entirely by LinkedIn, not ASSP, so we can’t guarantee an outcome — chapters that have tried this route have had mixed results.
Avoiding this in the future
Once you’ve regained access (or when setting up a new chapter LinkedIn page):
- Add at least two current officers as admins on the page, so access doesn’t depend on one person.
- Use a role-based chapter email (e.g.
president@yourchapter.assp.org) as the account’s associated email rather than a personal address — this keeps recovery possible even after officer turnover.
Still stuck?
Since these accounts fall outside Society’s control, our support team can’t recover a chapter LinkedIn account directly — but if you’d like help thinking through next steps, submit a support ticket.
